Jan 21, 2015 · Thoroseal has been around long before someone came up with a DIY "paint-type" coating. As an engineer, I used Thoroseal for a final surface coat on concrete control houses and final surface coatings for repairs for concrete dams. It is also used for architectural coatings.
Thoroseal or Drylock? Have you worked with them?
Nov 11, 2006 · Thoroseal has been around longer, originally used on commercial concrete waterproofing and repairs. The company makes a complete line of concrete finishing and restoration products. Thoroseal is a cement based coating, while DryLok is more of a paint. I have never applied DryLok, but I have used Thoroseal on my own basement waterproofing.

Jun 17, 2011 · Thoroseal is a very high quality standard producr that has been used for decades and long before Drylok was even thought of. It is not a paint, but cement-based coating that is compatible with concrete and they even suggest applying it over a moisted (tank sprayer) concrete surface.

Jun 7, 2007 · It can be, but you will no longer have a brick wall, you will have a stucco-ish wall and if there are live cracks, the cracks will simply mirror through the thoroseal. A better solution would be to fix any problems causing the wall to crack(if it is), re-point the mortar and apply a clear sealer like Prime-A-Pel 200.

Sep 21, 2008 · Thoroseal, Drylok, Damtite, etc AT BEST can only stop slight moisture. No matter what their claims, water"proofing" can only be done from the outside. Examine the exterior of the house. Ensure water coming off the roof leaves the foudation area immediately. Shrubbery growing too closely to the foundation can cause avenues for water to infiltrate.

Question about using Thoroseal with acryl 60 on brick walls.
Nov 4, 2010 · About 4-5 years ago, I had some contractors who painted on the side of my brick wall probably using thoroseal with acryl 60, but I just noticed some it started to fade. On my parent's place, they painted the whole wall with a generous amount of thoroseal 10 years ago but with no acryl 60 and the wall held up pretty well.
