Shoshoni was founded in 1905 approximately 13 miles from the Owl Creek Mountains. Shoshoni was a stop for the railroad and the population quickly grew to approximately 2,000 people. In 1907, a devastating fire destroyed most of the town’s original structures.

Online forms must be submitted by noon the Friday prior to the next scheduled town council meeting (meetings held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month.) Applications must be approved by the Shoshoni Town Council.
The Town of Shoshoni operates under a Mayor-Council form of government. The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Town of Shoshoni. The Mayor, as CEO, presides at all meetings of the Governing Body and is charge of all officers and affairs of the Town.
The Shoshoni Rifle Range Hours of Operation: November-August Friday-Sunday 8 am - 5 pm September-October Friday-Sunday 8 am - Sunset. The rifle range is open only under supervision. Volunteers from the Shoshoni Rifle Club help keep this site open for everyone's enjoyment. If demand is high, the range volunteers may stay later than posted times.
