One guy on another O'Day list-serv, who lives in Arizona, owns a 222 that he frequently trailers to sail in the Sea of Cortez. In our case, the manager of our marina said that he would not accept the 5 1/2 foot draft of the Catalina 30 we were going to buy due to low water in the channel to our berth.

When we looked for a cruising sailboat, we found the perfect boat for us was a 31' Catalina with an open concept interior and the shallow draft wing keel. But, since we were living in Florida on the Gulf Coast, even the wing keel was a liability at times.

My friend has a elite 364. deep draft.. but great boat. very hard to beat in light or medium air. not structual problems his is a 1984 i think. There are not a lot of them in the us. the feeling brands are more common in us. The boats were built in France to a high qualitystandard.

This sucker rides like a Cadillac in moderate chop, and eats 2-3 foot rollers with ease. Having said that, it still runs easily in 2 feet of water due to it's 8 ft. 6 in. beam, 14 degree transom deadrise, and it's shallow draft of 11.5 inches.
