Remington 11-48 .410 Skeet Guns...why so expensive?
Dec 8, 2012 · There aren't many .410 autoloaders in the first place. .410s, 28s, 16 gauges . . . all made in much smaller numbers than 12 gauges, so price goes up. The 11-48 is a "modern" looking long recoil auto-- but the A-5 and even the Franchi was never made in .410. The 11-48 isn't a particularly beautifully made gun, lots of stamped parts.

Unlike the Franchi the 11-48 was made in .410 bore and 16 gauge. Remington sold close to 1/2 a million of them, and they were successful.

The Remington 11-48 in .410 is a wonderful little gun BUT the .410 is an experts gun. A new shooter will get frustrated. Also, shells will be very expensive. Put this little gun away and just take it out every once in a while to simply enjoy.

I own an 870 pump action and tried putting that stock on the 11-48 to find out they are very different and will not swap. The 11-48 uses a roughly 8" by 1/2" dowel that sticks out the receiver where the 870 uses a thin threaded bolt that screws into the receiver.

Nov 1, 2020 · I checked the Remington catalogs from 1955 to 1968 and the barrel lengths were 30-inch in 12-gauge, 26- and 28-inch in 12-, 16- and 20-gauges and 25-inch in .410-bore & 28-gauge. For the early RSS (Rifled Slug Special) they don't state the barrel length. Later the pictures look like a shorter barrel and they say 22-inch.

Jul 7, 2022 · I think 250 is a very fair price. Especially if it is all original. I have 11-48's in 12 20 28 and 410. They are wonderful shooting shotguns, and very easy to clean, compared to the later gas guns.) Steve
