The SUV in question has a 2.4L I-4 port/direct injection, DOHC, Dual VVT-i variable valve engine instead of a v6. Seems like Lexus did away with the V6 engine. Is this particular engine reliable ?

Jan 13, 2014 · The most reliable ones in my opinion is the Toyota Sienna. If you enjoy driving, the Odessy is a little better but no van is really more then a great people and cargo mover. In SUVs, I recomend the Pilot because of it’s proven overall reliability and commodious interior with adult size rear seating for eight total passengers.

I suggest that you first focus on the most reliable makes (Toyota, Honda, Mazda) and if you find one that seems to be desirable, pay your own mechanic to give it a thorough pre-purchase inspection.
