Oct 30, 2024 · Could anyone give me some suggestions on antenna placement and general precautions to use when installing two mobile antennas on a vehicle: one for a scanner and the other for a 50W mobile amateur transceiver, most likely 2m/70cm. I want to make sure that the transceiver output doesn’t damage the receiver front end in the scanner.

Dec 23, 2013 · Do a search, larsen 800mhz gain antenna and you find several styles. Mine has a shock spring above the coil, then a coil in the stinger. Its about 1 foot tall. Had it originally for a mobile radio that trunked through arkansas, tennessee, louisiana and mississippi. Worked good, now use it as the mobile scanner antenna for 700-950 mhz.

For most users, the multi-band NMO antennas are a good overall solution if you don't need VHF Low band coverage.

May 1, 2004 · I've tried several over the years but haven't found one that gets decent reception while mobile, on all bands. Has anybody tried the multiband antenna from Scannerworld.com (ANT135BNC, tri vertical omnidirectional)?

I have a Radio Shack Pro-2051 mobile scanner hooked to a Radio Shack mag-mount mobile scanner antenna (cat. #20-032) all on a 2007 Chevy Impala. It is starting to rust out where the element screws into the base so I will be replacing it.

May 14, 2023 · That's not really an option in a mobile application. However, it does sound like your setup is working well. The periodic dropouts of the signal can be caused by a number of things. I don't think its 'picket fencing', as that would happen when you are moving, and it is usually pretty fast. Sounds more like a setting in the scanner.

Jul 23, 2010 · I've just installed two mobile scanners in my car. One will be strictly for monitoring 800MHz trunked systems, and the other will be used mainly for VHF frequencies. First of all, for the trunking scanner, I happen to have an 800MHz antenna. It was not advertised as a "scanner antenna" when I bought it. It was probably made for a Motorola radio.
