Jan 23, 2007 · For those who are unfamiliar with it, the Mesa Grande Western is a very special and rare 9" gauge railroad (1/4 scale narrow gauge) on 40 acres of private property in the high desert northeast of Los Angeles. Begun by Harry Pulaski in 1965, it is now owned by past LALS president Bill Semerau.

It was also the culmination of a week of work to re-align several hundred feet of track to eliminate some below-grade track that was constantly being covered in sand by storms and crossing a dirt road below grade.
