The prayer room exists to partner in the Great Commission by advancing 24/7 prayer with worship and proclaiming the beauty of Jesus and His glorious return. We segment our 24-hour schedule into twelve worship-based prayer meetings, each lasting two hours.

The prayer room is designed to reflect the tabernacle of David (1 Chr. 9:33; 22–24); it is a place where we never cease worshiping the Lord and interceding for our world. Each twenty-four-hour period is made up of twelve, two-hour prayer sessions, each led by a full worship team.

Since 1999, we have gathered in Kansas City at the International House of Prayer, not in strength or grandeur, but in humble, weak prayer meetings. It is in our simple weak yes that God's power is made perfect.

On September 19, 1999, the International House of Prayer of Kansas City, Missouri, started a worship-based prayer meeting, which has continued for twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week ever since.

The prayer room is the foundation of all ministry and outreach at the IHOPKC Missions Base. Scripture teaches that night-and-day prayer is deeply connected to the release of the fullness of God’s power and purpose (Lk. 18:7–8; cf. Isa. 62:6–7).
