Jul 8, 2006 · In the Buick "history" book, it mentions that Buick and Hollywood were tightly linked. Many Buicks used in films in the later 1930s and 1940s, plus Buick police cars in the "Highway Patrol" television series (starring Broderick Crawford) in the middle 1950s. Many custom Buicks built for many Hollywood stars back then too.

Jan 24, 2022 · Can't help you with the late Hupp and Graham cars. But I had to do a double-take reading your title line. My 1927 Paige uses a Warner Gear T-68A-1 transmission which had notoriously soft gears. Many years ago, I had to find some gears for it and learned that a few other cars used variations of the same transmission.

Dec 11, 2024 · Car heaters remained an option for a surprisingly long time. Cars had a rope across the back of the front seat for storing a lap robe or small thick wool blanket until the early 1950s. Meant to keep passengers legs warm in absence of any other heater. Worked even better if you had a hot brick or foot warmer under there too.

Jan 3, 2025 · You said it. A lot of those cars were tops in their day but there is such a thing as progress. I have old Tom McCahill road tests from the late 40s on. In the early fifties 0-60 in 10 seconds was dynamite stuff. The fastest stock car on Daytona Beach in 1951 was a new Chrysler New Yorker with hemi head V8, it made 100.13MPH.

Nov 16, 2024 · Believe it or not the cars shipped to the USA were not delivered with sway bars. Any car that ended up with a sway bar had it added by the dealer although apparently European spec cars had a roll bar installed during original assembly. We also received all of the hardware back from the plater and will now start sorting out the buckets.

As far as I can figure out, the only difference between a 40 and 41 Hollywood is dash is engine turn on 40, and striped on 41. There were of course 2-5 convertibles built of the Hollywood, and at least one Hupp.
