Jun 3, 2024 · If you’ll check the Harbor Freight App or Website, it will list “Good/Better/Best” brands for each category. In your example, you discuss hand tools, and the hierarchy is Pittsburgh/Pittsburgh Pro/Quinn/Icon and Doyle. Icon and Doyle being equivalent at the top.

Mar 27, 2020 · The point is that Harbor Freight is not a brand, it's a store. A distributor. They've contracted with various manufacturers to produce certain products under certain brands. Different brands are aimed at different market segments. This isn't something unusual that only Harbor Freight is doing - it's standard practice across the entire industry.

So now if I were to buy the Chicago Electric I feel like a cheap bastard. Whereas I used to just feel like a Harbor Freight customer who wants to learn how to weld.

Apr 20, 2023 · They only serve to differentiate different tiers of quality within the same tool category (like air nailers, you have Central Pneumatic, then Banks, and Pierce at the top). But yeah, for things like small parts bins, etc where there isn’t different levels, they shouldn’t even have a “brand” other than Harbor Freight.
Why does HF have so many tool brands all of a sudden?
Exactly. I needed one of those vibratory cutters to trim some molding. I’m not going to spend $100 on a good one. Harbor Freight fills a need in the market. If they get rid of that, there isn’t much need left for them.

Jun 23, 2024 · Icon, even after discounts for hand tools, the price is on par with competing brands. May this be online brands like Tekton, or box stores like Milwaukee, Husky, Klein, etc. Some of those brands also carry a life time warranty as well.

Aug 3, 2022 · Harbor Freight has a reputation and history of selling less expensive tools than competition, and I think that aspect is at play here when people are thinking whether a product is quality or not. It would also appear that in the past, Harbor Freight did in fact sell a much lesser product in the power tool department.
