Meds such as Prozac are generally a last resort, for use when behavioural training and drug free options have been exhausted. They definitely have their place too, and some cats can really befit from them.

Jan 27, 2024 · I had the same concerns, honestly. We still have one cat on it and I was able to ween him down to half a dose. I did try to ween him off completely, but he starts to become a litter box bully (meaning, he bullies the other cats when they are trying to use the box). Going down to a half dose has seemed to help him and he is urinating normally now.

He has been having health issues since he started as well, I was thinking that the constant vet visits could be the reason for these changes and not the fluoxetine. The recommendation is to alternate ears and clean the off-day ear when you dose the other. However, cats being cats usually only tolerate so much handling of their ears.
