In this thesis, I examine the ways fears can be faced, alle-viated and addressed through creative work. I present examples of how fear appears in the field of contemporary art and how it is utilized in works of art.
Through studying the nature of these fears throughout the course, I find growing awareness of how stu-dents’ fears can lead to more embodied understandings of what it means to learn and teach with the arts, recovering a more complex process of reflection and a ho-listic understanding of what it means to be an artist and teacher.
In the paper I am concerned with various manifestations of aesthetic fear and anxiety, that is, fear and anxiety triggered by works of art, which I discuss from aesthetic as well as anthro-pological perspectives.
