The Empire is a contemporary term referring to the realms under the rule of Men on the continent of Tamriel. There have been three such Empires in recorded history, and the rule of any given Empire spans centuries.

At its height, the Empire spanned across the entire continent of Tamriel, and administered feudal control through the nine provinces, and the maritime holdings of Cathnoquey, Esroniet, Yneslea and Roscrea, and briefly on Akavir, with an Emperor or Empress acting as supreme ruler.

In order to be crowned Emperor, your Alliance must control all six of the Keeps surrounding the Imperial City (Chalman Keep, Blue Road Keep, Castle Alessia, Castle Roebeck, Fort Ash and Fort Aleswell) and you must be the highest-ranked player in your Alliance.
