Painter and printmaker, born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. His full name was Henry Charles Bartlett and he was married to the artist Olwen Jones. Studied at Eastbourne School of Art, then Royal College of Art, 1946–50, his teachers including Ruskin Spear and Robert Austin. He was president of RWS and a member of RE, also showing regularly at RA.
