About Tropical Hibiscus - American Hibiscus
Tropical hibiscus (rosa-sinensis) also come as singles and doubles. They are a tropical plant and perform best in tropical conditions. They do not tolerate frost well, but that does not stop people from growing them in Canada and northern Europe -- they are brought inside to avoid freezes or they are grown as annuals.
About the American Hibiscus Society
The majority of the Society's members are amateur gardeners. There are members in 40 states and 45 foreign countries. There are chapters located throughout Florida, in Texas, Louisiana, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. The Australian Hibiscus Society and the Hibiscus Society of Queensland are affiliated.

Jun 23, 2024 · There may be 500 or more different varieties on display at these shows. Thinking of hibiscus as the red or pink flower associated with Hawaii and Miami, the public is usually AMAZED at the color and variety they see. Many people don't think the flowers are real!!
