The close alliance between our Church and our Catholic School is one of the most enriching elements of our parish life. Three of the five heads of the school were religious sisters. The first head-teacher was Sister Malachy Joseph was succeeded by Sister Clare in 1960.
Year 6 | St Brigid's Catholic Primary School
To mark the feast day of our class saint, St John Henry Newman on 9th October, Year 6 pupils wore red to school. We had a special prayer service thinking about his life and work. We created a chain to show how we are links in a chain and we work together to build the kingdom of God.

St Brigid. Brigid was born around 452 in Ireland. Her father was a pagan chieftain called Dubthach, and he mother Brocessa was a Christian slave. Her mother was sent away and sold but, after Brigid was old enough, she was returned to her father and put in charge of the dairy.

To prepare for this we have lots of jobs and responsibilities within the classroom and around school, giving the children an opportunity to act as a role model to their peers. As always, positive behaviour is always noticed and rewarded with house points.
