Jun 7, 2021 · If you are going to get an arbor press, make sure it is large enough to fit a standard gauge engine. Mine is a smaller one and only fits O gauge engines. A friend of mine uses a lathe to press on standard gauge wheels. He claims that is better to work with than an arbor press. Obviously a lathe is more expensive than an arbor press.

Mar 31, 2015 · since the 1664 uses the same shell as the 1666/224 it's a simple conversion. I did have to drill a rear motor mounting screw hole in the little dome in front of the cab where the 224's motor mounts.

I picked up this rather beaten up steam switcher recently which has lots of issues. The rods are all there, some handrails, no smokebox nor headlight. Also, no tender as of now, but the seller may still have that. The wires were in bad shape and so far it does not run.
