PharmD.'s cannot put PhD after their signatures because a PhD is a different type of abbrevation for a doctor. PhD stands for Doctor of Philosophy of (insert subject here).

Jun 15, 2005 · They just took the boards. The BOP's don't allow this anymore, Minnesota was the last to grant the title of Rph without a degree in 1976. Rph just means that you are a registered pharmacist that passed with the qualifications at the time. Pharm.D. is an academic title that is wholly separate from the licensing part.

So, instead of Dr. Smith, a physician is John Smith, Dr Med or Dr. Med Smith. A lawyer is Dr. Jur. Smith. You get your title with a little extra information that explains what kind of "doctor" you are.

Mar 16, 2006 · A lot of people with BS pharm still do practice and we call them Rph as well. PharmD is people who earned the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. If ones with PharmD pass the board test and register to the state board of pharmacy, they can be called as Rph. By the way, you have to have PharmD to take the board test thesedays.
