Jun 25, 2009 · The Spider Valve is truly a digital modeller that runs into a tube power amp--it uses a CPU to digitally model amplifier behavior. Trouble is, the digitally modelled "amp" can do only what the designers programmed it to do--it doesn't overdrive like an analog amp when the design parameters are exceeded. (You also can't mod it.)

Mar 5, 2015 · I have a Peavey Vypyr Tube-60. Pretty nice little amp. Sounds a lot better than the others in the Vypyr series. The Tube-60 has a 12ax7 for the PI, and 2 6L6s for power. It is excellent at lower volumes, and a killer at louder volumes. One thing Peavey did get right was their TransTube technology.

May 4, 2023 · The TransTube (Bandit) amps were largely emulating Peavey's "Classic" or "Ultra" series tube amps. They are kinda their own thing....and 1980's Bandit 65 is naturally an entirely different amp than a TransTube generation Bandit.

May 1, 2016 · This is a demo of the 1st Gen Vypyr, all Peavey's modelers use Transtube. The newer amp should sound better than this. Bear in mind this is a 99 dollar amp with an 8 inch speaker. One plus is the amp controls are very easy to get around on, I have owned modelers from Vox, Boss, and Line6, Peavey interface was/is the easiest to deal with by far.

Mar 20, 2018 · Something I've learned with all of the settings is to use the pre-gain very judiciously and rely more on post-gain distortion. The amp has better touch sensitivity and more natural note decay that way. Now I like both the clean and the distorted sounds very much. Still the best amp value for the dollar I've found.

In the studio, I always mic an amp (in house JMP-1/Peavey tube rig or guitarist's own) but take a DI directly from the guitar for re-amping later is desired.

Some dude gave me a marshall tube amp the other day, was broken and did a little work and got it running, dsl401 which I'm not so partial to these usually, but ran my helix into it 4CM for first time, and OH MY GOD. It both transformed my helix and the marshall to absolute heaven.
