Proper lubrication for Hurst shifter - Team Camaro Tech
May 19, 2010 · Am trying to determine an appropriate grease to use in re-assembling my Hurst shifter (it is the OEM '69 Z28 Camaro Comp Plus shifter the car was born with). Would a moly infused lithium grease such as Valvoline's Full Synthetic Moly Fortified Gray Grease, NLGI #2 be suitable for this application? Thank you, Chuck Scott Brokaw <[email protected]>
2nd gen Hurst 4 speed shifter fit 69 Camaro with console
Dec 11, 2024 · They differ in length, angles bent into lever fore & aft, offsets to relocate shifter lever reference to tunnel centerline. If shifter is hitting the dash or radio & its a Hurst Competition + shifter, you may not have the travel stops in your shifter body or you have them and not adjusted properly to eliminate over travel in the shifter.

Jun 16, 2020 · Google the procedure to adjust the shifter. Use a 1/4" drill bit in the shifter to align the shifter in the center neutral position then adjust the rods to match. Also you may need to back out the shifter stops to increase travel. He doesn't show that in this first video.

Apr 24, 2003 · A. There is a 1/4 inch hole at the bottom of the Hurst mechanism that runs through all three levers. This is called the neutral alignment hole. To ensure proper adjustment, run the shifter from first into second and then back to neutral. Insert the neutral alignment pin (or a 1/4 inch drill bit) into the neutral alignment hole.

Aug 22, 2007 · For a 68, the complete assembly is 3914339, which is the same 3914340 shifter (without stick) plus the 5384106 stick. (hurst part info HERE) You should be able to check for a part number on both the shifter assembly (stamped in the face) and the handle (last 4 digits stamped at the base of the handle).
Hurst shifter won't go into reverse - Team Camaro Tech
Mar 3, 2012 · yes, I can engage the lever manually. Ok I took the shifter apart and found out why it would not engage the reverse lever,the round plunger attached to the shifter lever that engages the arms can not go down far enough to catch the reverse lever,the reason for this is a piece of metal that sticks out of the shifter plate stops it.(see pics).

Jan 28, 2007 · The original Hurst has the round press in stick #5325 and the aftermarket Hurst has a bolt on stick and stop bolts in the shifter body. The 3138 number is just the Hurst body part number and is the same on many shifters other then 69 Camaro. They are both called Competion Plus but are differernt shifters.
