No CD-RW format option - Dell
My Dell Inspiron 7520 15R SE laptop is running Windows 10 Home. and has a TSSTcorp DVD+RW SN-208BB drive. After inserting a blank CD or DVD and right-clicking, I expect the drop down menu to include an option to format the disk but the format option is not there.

Feb 15, 2006 · A DVD+RW disc does not require full formatting, and in fact may render a rewritable disc unusable after the first session. Just write to it, and if formatting is required, your burning software should take care of this automatically.

Aug 31, 2009 · if I use use Nero on Windows or K3b on Linux ..relabeling DVD-RW means wiping it clean, all data is gone. If DVD-RW was originally burned as multi-sessioned and disk was not closed you should be able to add more content.

Feb 19, 2005 · Hello, I installed a Sony DVD writer on my Dimension 3000 and it work great with the exception that I am not able to re-format DVD-RW. The CDs I am speaking of were formatted using Roxio 6. I am currently using the roxio software that came with Windows XP. When I choose the option to ERASE THIS CD-RW, windows attempt to do it but it fails.
