Jun 11, 2023 · Low Fell. Mellbreak. So in the autumn of 2022, whilst the rest of the family were “enjoying” a treetop adventure course, and on a day where the cloud hogged the top of the higher fells, I headed out to bag myself three smaller Wainwrights.

Turn right from the gate to follow the Mosser Fell Road as it descends towards Loweswater. Wainwright regarded the south top as the true summit but acknowledged that the north top appeared to be slightly higher. Later re-surveying has confirmed this, giving the north top a height of 1,388 ft. and the south 1,352 ft.

Low Fell is the finest of the Loweswater Fells, with a great position overlooking Crummock Water and impressive Grasmoor. You haven't climbed Low Fell yet. Region: Western Fells
