Jan 28, 2021 · Based on my experience of meeting people in Toronto & Vancouver: Whilst you tend to get bundled in with the US, I feel that Brits have more similarities with Canadians compared with Americans. I think the main reason is that I find Canadians to be very polite but without the contrived overly friendly tendencies of Americans.

If you find that offensive then you are a polite Canadian and probably find Canadians friendlier. If you find that people wanting to be open with themselves and get to know you more quickly, then Americans are friendlier.
