May 24, 2015 · Avada Kedavra always struck me as the kind of spell that couldn't have a wand movement... it needed to be pointed and aimed, so waving around would really mess with your accuracy. Plus, Barty Crouch jr Moody made it sound like the most important part was strong magic behind the curse.

the second is that the movement part is completely crap. the teachers make a big deal about the specific form that the spell should be cast with simply to force the students to practice the spells over and over. and the third is also that it is completely crap, but in a more meta sense.

It is a common theory that Harry's scar is lightning shaped because the Avada Kedavra spell requires a lightning like movement with the wand. This got me thinking. The reader only really learns about one specific wand movement: for the Vingardium Leviosar charm.

Avada Kedavra isn’t what kills him, it’s the archway that he falls into. The Department of Mysteries is studying death, and it’s heavily implied that that gateway is the way to the other side. Sirius falls through it & can’t come back because he’s no longer in the land of the living.

Like if someone is suicidal, they might restrict their wand from being able to use Avada Kedavra or any other spell they could use to kill themselves. Then I'd wonder if there would be a way to jailbreak the wands, like going to a Knockturn Alley shop to lift the restriction spell or something.

May 26, 2021 · That’s why such a powerful wizard - like Dumbledore or Voldemort - do magic without wands/words a few times. One that makes me think of this is when Dumbledore turns off the lights in GoF with just his hand or when Voldemort shoots a spell at the ministry with just a yell and no specific movement/pronunciation of the wand.

Avada Kedavra’s a curse that needs a powerful bit of magic behind it — you could all get your wands out now and point them at me and say the words, and I doubt I’d get so much as a nosebleed. But that doesn’t matter. I’m not here to teach you how to do it. and Apparition left the trio feeling weak after lessons.

Apr 9, 2024 · In fact I'd say Avada Kedavra is the most forgivable. All the other spells are slow deaths like burning alive or getting slammed against the ground 500 times, while Avada Kedavra is a instant and seemingly painless death.
