We rebuild gearboxes to the original VW factory tolerances, to do that it is necessary to replace all the consumable wear items, i.e. bearings, seals, and bushes. We also replace single-use parts such as circlips as per the factory rebuild procedure and replace the synchro rings.

Mar 21, 2016 · The diagram is from the Transporter with Water-cooled Boxer Engine Construction and Operation VAG Self Study Programme which also includes information on the 4 speed gearbox. Starting from the rear, use a 13mm socket wrench to remove the bolt holding the Gear Shift Joint onto the gearbox.

Sep 5, 2023 · This is how I adjusted the gear shifter and linkage on my VW T25 / Vanagion when struggling to select gears. (I've been advised Air Cooled/Deisel versions should use a 19mm block) Whether this will work for your or not wil depend on the reason why your having gear selection problems, however if the selector bushes are in good condition should help.
