Old Berol Prismacolor CP vs Prismacolor Premier CP
Jul 29, 2013 · I have used colored pencils for years but only recently artistically. Before it was plans wiring and piping diagrams technical rough drafts. The old Berol are superior to Prismacolor Premier. I have maybe 100 colors many are getting 4 ” range time to replace soon but i am going to switch to Faber or Derwent I think.

Caran d’Ache Pablo Colored Pencils or Prismacolor
Jul 19, 2012 · I prefer Faber-Castell Polychromos, but these are oil based pencils, and oil or wax based pencils can be something of a personal preference. I’ve only worked with Caran D’Ache’s watercolor pencils, which I find to be of high quality. Based on that experience I would certainly recommend giving their non-watercolor pencils a try.
VARNISH: Wax Based or Acrylic for Colored Pencils???
Jun 24, 2009 · I use Prismacolor Colored Pencils on a Ampersand PastelBoard. My goal is to use a fixative, High Gloss Varnish followed by a Matte Varnish. Which products do you recommed for these WAX-based pencils and WHY. I’ve read that a lot of colored pencil artist’s use an acrylic varnish…why not a wax based assuming the colored pencils are wax pencils?

If lightfastness and quality is a concern, use colored pencil colors that have lightfastness ratings of Excellent, Good, or Very Good and make certain that the pieces are displayed out of direct sunlight.

But the similarity with Caran d’ache and Mondeluz watercolor pencils dry make me believe that the only difference is that wcpencils you can use both ways. BTW I paid 24 dollars +shipping for 36 pieces Prismacolor from Amazon.
