Jan 7, 2022 · Yes! My first thought after getting a good wax coat on the material was that it looked like leather. Good distressed leather at that - although I’d rather inflict my own distress marks by-and-by. A hat would be a good addition. The Filson ones look nice.

I've had it out in the rain once and it was in the high 30's and misting and I was toasty with just a bit of wind cutting through the coat and the rain ...

I admit it’s not suitable for public wear so it stays home for work under the truck and such. It’s a Brazos brand from academy. I think I paid 40-50 dollars for it And it’s good canvas and has not ripped yet.

Nov 6, 2023 · Today temperatures are hovering right around freezing with a steady snowfall. I pulled on the coat with the windbreaker anorak over it and headed out. I was plenty warm with no hint of wind penetration. Being wool, I didn’t get overheated even when I shoveled out front of the door. Very good. Evaluation to continue throughout the winter.

Apr 25, 2016 · I have had an oilskin coat for exactly 16 years. Its heavy and smells bad but its tough as nails, stops the wind good, never soaked through, and probably the only coat I have that dont have holes in it. It would get my vote, dont have to worry about melting around a fire.

Oct 16, 2021 · Yes, you can let out the lower part of the coat and that makes the cut a little less weird. I did so with mine. And it still fits weird. It is comfortable and I think it's good looking, but I think I'd stand out if I wore it downtown. The Swedish coat is so similar in looks to WW2 Wehrmacht coats as to make me a little uncomfortable wearing it.
