I came across angel eyes backstory and read it. Shorter refers to Ash as “kid” and he looks around fifteen but can’t tell due to how scrawny he is.

We, as humans, are very good at writing love stories, it's what we know best, but what Yoshida had intended with BF is to depict a strong bond between two young men (similar to that of in Midnight Cowboy).

However, this did get cut out of the anime. But, at least in the manga, i know that at least that part is confirmed. Mar 11, 2021 · Agree with 77 Dawson, Rightstufanime is the way to go. They are out of stock currently of the Banana Fish manga, but I reckon they will restock pretty fast. I got my BF collection from them during a holiday sale and each volume was a bit over $5. Their site has really good sales AND they package your stuff like insanely well. Good company.

Aug 16, 2021 · Manga had more space/time to develop, so there is more material. Jokes, lines, plot points are in the manga, but did not make it to the anime. The police and lots of the middle part of Banana Fish are especially more fleshed out in manga. Certain scenes are more beautiful and suspenseful in the manga compared to the anime.

Unless you want to be that irritated fan of the source material that bitches about the anime changing this and that and ruining the characters (been there done that), I'd recommend to go for anime first, then read the manga. And Banana Fish anime is gorgeous.
