Some Hattiesburg-area children are showing their appreciation for veterans by creating Valentine’s Day-themed pieces of art.

Richlands Elementary School is the last school in the district to get adopted by a unit through the “Adopt a School” Program.

The new pilot program hopes to give veterans a creative outlet to express themselves and find purpose after leaving the military.
