WORK has been undertaken to restore a historic Lake District railway hut on a popular trail. The work on the shelter at Brundholme Bottom, on the Keswick to Threkheld trail, began this month.

The ‘platelayer’s hut’, which was once used by railway workers, had been affected by flooding, worsened by recent storms. It has become a popular resting place for walkers on the trail.
