Jimmy Carter, who died Dec. 29 at age 100, was the first U.S. President to invite NASCAR drivers to the White House.

Lenny Randle, a 12-year major league veteran who once punched his manager and also got down on his hands and knees on the infield grass to blow a baseball foul during a game, died Dec. 29. He was 75.

The IndyCar champion of 2024 was Alex Palou. Palou was in the spotlight pre-season due to his deal and lawsuits with McLaren.
