Abhijeet Bhattacharya faces legal notice after controversial remarks labeling Mahatma Gandhi as 'Father of Pakistan', claiming Gandhi's role in the partition of India led to Pakistan's existence.

Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is in legal trouble after his controversial remarks on Mahatma Gandhi. Pune-based lawyer Asim Sarode has sent a legal notice to the singer on behalf of his client, Manish Deshpande.

Abhijeet Bhattacharya, a playback singer, had said in an interview, “…Mahatma Gandhi was the Father of the Nation for Pakistan, not for India.”

In a legal notice, a Pune-based lawyer has said that if singer Abhijit Bhattacharya does not issue an apology for his comments on Mahatama Gandhi then a complaint will be filed against him.

Bhattacharya's contentious statement was made during a podcast interview, where he claimed that Mahatma Gandhi was not the father of the nation for India, but rather for Pakistan.
