In a letter to the DHS, FBI, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Chuck Schumer, Cory Booker, and Andy Kim pointed to the alarming nature of recent drone sightings.
Regardless of the drone's classification, however, the FAA considers them aircraft — meaning that you could be charged with shooting at an aircraft, a federal crime if you take a shot at one.
