Albuquerque's City Council plans to crack down on vacant buildings. It will vote on an ordinance that places heavy fines on property owners who do not keep their buildings up to code.

Councilor Joaquin Baca proposed the bill, saying the vacant properties downtown attract crime and negative activity.
