Meta may be releasing new Oakley-branded smart glasses later this year, according to a new Bloomberg report. The Oakley-branded glasses, internally referred to as “Supernova 2”, would be based on the brand’s Sphaera glasses.

The company is also reportedly considering launching AI-powered wearables, including earbuds with built-in cameras.

Meta is reportedly working on several smart devices, including Oakley-branded AI glasses for athletes, including runners.

Bloomberg reported Tuesday that the two companies had teamed up on a smart glasses partnership. The glasses will be marketed to athletes, according to the report. Citing “people with knowledge of the matter,” the news outlet lays out some of the ways in which Meta plans to diversify its smart glasses product base in the coming years:

According to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, along with Oakley-branded smart glasses, Meta’s devices group, Reality Labs, is also planning to release new high-end glasses with a built-in display late this year. Also on the development list are said to be other products that would compete with Apple Inc.’s smartwatch and Airpods.
