Some residents in Sunnyslope have been working hard to get Phoenix city leaders to give a beloved rock garden historic status. That status just came down just in time for Christmas.

The Sunnyslope Rock Garden, an imaginative folk-art display made of rock, pottery shards, colorful chipped glass and concrete, was designated historic by Phoenix City Council on Wednesday.
