Macy's is closing 66 stores in 2025 – including these 3 in the Bay Area
Overall, Macy’s said it plans to close approximately 150 "underproductive stores" through 2026 – including stores in Los Angeles, San Mateo and elsewhere across the state. Meanwhile, it will invest in 350 existing stores, with plans to add more salespeople to fitting areas and shoe departments, and adding more visual displays like mannequins.
