Massive, once in a century asteroid to be visible flying past Earth - NASA estimates the asteroid Alinda is roughly the same width as Manhattan

This apocalyptic object, the Chicxulub impactor, slammed into the sea just off the coast of modern-day Mexico. From it, shock waves, earthquakes and megatsunamis splattered out, plunging the planet into a long winter.

NASA has alerted the public about two asteroids, 2024 YA10 and 2024 BM1, set to have close encounters with Earth this Wednesday. However, the space agency has reassured that these asteroids pose no threat to the planet's safety.
