Norfolk State is hiring former NFL quarterback Michael Vick as its head football coach, and other outlets reported Tuesday. In taking the top job at a school near his hometown of Newport News, Va., Vick joins a group of NFL stars turned first-time coaches at HBCUs in recent years.

The former NFL quarterback and Virginia native was recently confirmed as the new head football coach at Norfolk State University. “It’s an honor to announce that I’ll be the new head coach of Norfolk State University… looking forward to coming back home,” Vick wrote on Facebook on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
