D’Angelo Russell is back with Brooklyn, and despite the move coming from a Western Conference contender to a rebuilding Nets squad, the former Lakers guard doesn’t seem fazed.

Noah Clowney suffered a lower back injury late in the third quarter and did not return. Maxwell Lewis, who was traded to Brooklyn alongside Russell, played one minute, knocked down his first attempted, and had to be carried off the court after suffering an apparent left knee injury.

The Nets will open 2025 with a new-look roster. D’Angelo Russell and Maxwell Lewis are both available for Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena. Both were acquired in a trade that sent Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

After the Lakers traded D’Angelo Russell back to the Nets, reports indicated that he was excited about the move. Russell is in the final year of his contract so should get plenty of opportunities to show what he can do in Brooklyn the rest of the year before heading into free agency.
