The man's body was found on a rock ledge after friends notified the sheriff's office that he failed to return from a hike as expected.

A hiker didn’t return home when he told friends he would, so they went out looking for him and found his body on a rock ledge, Colorado officials said. The 42-year-old hiker had said he would return home around dark on Monday, Dec. 16, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The sun set at 4:37 p.m. that day.
