BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured a teenager and her grandmother. Officers were called to the 5500 block of St. Gerard Avenue around 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2.

One person was killed in a shooting in the 5400 block of Longfellow Drive in Baton Rouge on Wednesday afternoon, a police spokesperson said. Terry Wayne Jones, 35, was shot multiple times around 3:24 p.m. and died at the scene, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

For one of those shootings, which took place on Bourbon Street around 7:22 p.m., NOPD is now searching for six suspects believed to be from Baton Rouge.

According to the police, around 3:20 p.m., detectives were responding to a reported shooting in the 5400 block of Longfellow Drive. Upon arrival, detectives found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was later identified as Terry Wayne Jones, 35.

BRPD said that a vehicle yielded to the officer’s lights. However, as the officer attempted to go around the stopped vehicle, the driver turned left, resulting in a T-bone collision.
