An easy beautiful drive up to the top of Sandra Crest. The views from up top are amazing. Much cooler up there also. There was some sort of visitor center but we were there early and it wasn’t open. Full review by gypsymamma

There are a few areas, very limited to pull over to capture the moments.... 3 bucks at main rest areas, is not expensive just make sure it is the front windshield.... We basically cruise up and down and let others pass, when the road is not too curvy and it's safe to pull over.... Going for a cruise, you may capture deer and wild turkey at certain times.... Mornings are best....
We want to drive to Sandia Crest in the morning (June 23 or 24), early, to see the sunrise. Two questions: 1) Are the roads accessible before daybreak? 2) Which morning is less crowded - Saturday or Sunday?
