The company was started by LeRoyce Rice in 1959, and has grown from a small room in the old town hall to their location on Lloyd Street in Carrboro, which includes a 40,000 square foot shop. The Rice family continues to be the force behind the business, with daughter Sarah Rice-Wright, co-owner and son Alton Rice overseeing day to day operations and serving as president.
