I can answer my own question. I drove out there from San Diego to find out that the gate from walker Rd. to access Salida Gulch/Lynx Creek ruins is locked. I guess the Forest Service found it necessary to lock a gate to an area where they were never around before they went on vacation. Thanks TripAdvisor for the timely info.
