We Climbed Marcy in Aigust. It is in NO WAY 14 MILES ROUND TRIP! My climbing companion got left at Indian Falls. With my Fit Bit ir was 24.9 miles. Be prepared theres no worse feeling than hiking straight up a mountain for 8 hours and not break treeline ( my companions case, who was in good shape). Another thing to remember if you do summit and are on your last legs, you have to go back DOWN!! The hardest 2 miles are from Marcy Dam to the LOJ
Hello, I will be visiting Montreal in April and then I will be traveling to NY. I was planning to catch a train or a bus and I would like to stop somewhere in between. I read about the Mount Marcy hike and it sounds terrific. I am a passionate climber and hiker and I am very keen to try this track. I was wondering how easy (or hard!) it is to get there without a car. I have read a previous post that suggested to get to Keene by bus. Is it possible to walk to the start of the hike from Keene town? Also, is there any camp sites you would recommend? Thanks so much in advance!

Travelling from England Aug 18th and want to tackle Mt Marcy - where would be the best place to travel to from Philadelphia direct (train / greyhound or flights?) I am a strong hiker and used to endurance trails in the UK so looking at camping - is Lake Placid ideal for this?

You can get to Albany, NY either by bus, flight or train and then get a bus (greyhound) to Keene, NY for Mt. Marcy trail.
I hiked cascase,Gaint,Algonquin mountains previously, am I ready to hike Mount Marcy? I'm not "fit" or athletic. Just obese. I may be out of breath all the time but I get it done.

I would think you would find it difficult especially at the higher elevation. See my review for details.
