Only went for one day, would have liked to have more time to experience the park. I wish we could have had more time to see the park as we didn't have a lot of time to explore. Full review by Mike W

hello - were you able to see tree climbing lions? We visitted in 2000 and we count 24 lions on one tree. We want to make that trip again, but many are not recommending Lake Manyara.
A:
I was there in the dry season. Saw plenty of lions, but mostly in the shade of the trees.
Q:
Are there any rest stops or toilet facilities inside Lake Manyara National Park that we can use whilst on our game drive?
A:
Yes, absolutely. One at the gate and one inside the park. There might be another for all that I know. Our game drive, with lunch, was 5.5 hours.

We are starting a safari here in the middle of August. What are we likely to be able to see in the park? I had read that the lake shore road for access to see flamingos, hippos, etc. has been closed so you can't see much near the lake. Is this true?

We just came back and we felt that in general you are not close to the shore of the lake. There is with exception of the hippo pool always at least a distance of 200 meters and mostly trees and bushes in between you and the lake. Also we did not see a single flamingo or cat (ie no lions at all, not in the tree either). the flamingos had all migrated to lake Natron we were told. We saw many elephants, endless baboons and other monkeys, zebras, buffalos and other birds. We were in the Serengeti before Lake Manyara and I would not recommend that order. As lake Manyara is mostly a forest around the lake, often animals are amongst the trees and we felt the experience was less good than in the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater and the lake shore was quite a distance.
