This was a once in a lifetime opportunity - it did not disappoint. The weather was pretty cold and windy but the 45 minute walk was easy enough - just wrap up warm and wear suitable boots! Good guide… Full review by NikB21

I want to do this tour...but hesitant. How hardcore is the hike up the volcano? I'm scared of heights...and I'm going solo...so the ascend and descend of the volcano hike is my big worry vs the car down. I will use hiking polos. It's costly so I'm wondering if I should skip and do a lava tunnel or its doable?! Thanks

Most of the hike was flat along the landscape and the last bit actually up the volcano is like climbing 4-5 flights of stairs. The guides were super helpful and took the time for all skill levels.

We did this a couple of week ago (driving from Selfoss, which was about a 45 minute drive). If you arrive early, just sit and enjoy the amazing view. On a clear day you can see the glacier on Snaefullsness.
