To be honest if your based in Edinburgh, it is probably not worth your while coming through for. Its a nice wee Castle however there are plenty of other things I would recommend in the Edinburgh area first. It would cost you a fortune to get from Edinburgh to Dollar by Uber and then back again. If you really do want to visit it, the best action would be to take the train from Edinburgh to Stirling and then take the number 23 bus from Stirling bus stop stand 8 which will drop you in Dollar. You would then follow the signs for Dollar Glen which will eventually take you up to Castle Campbell. Alternatively, you can get the train from Edinburgh to Alloa and then take a taxi from Alloa to Dollar which will probably cost around £10-£15 each way. I hope this helps. The Castle is nice but it is mainly a shell which you can walk around in 20-30 mins.
how to get to Castle Campbell from Edinburgh by public transport? Thanks so much

If you are leaving from Edinburgh Waverley at 11am, you can get the 11.03 train to Dunblane exiting the train in Stirling at 11.55am. The bus station is only a few minutes away and you can get the Nr 23 bus heading towards St Andrews, leaving Stirling at 12.10pm. You can then get off at the Burnside and walk up the Burnside, through the glen to the castle [a very pretty walk which is just over 1 mile]. If you leave the castle at 4.30pm you can get the Number 324 to Bannockburn, exiting at Stirling. You can then walk back to Stirling Train station and get the 6.07pm train back to Edinburgh Waverley, arriving back in Waverley at 7.07pm
