In May of 2009, a group of believers, from different backgrounds, began praying about the possibility of planting a church in the South Palm Beach area. An old friend of Pastor John’s had made a, small store front, performing arts space in Boynton Beach available to us for little cost, and we began meeting shortly thereafter.As we continued to pray for direction, we developed a burden for the community of Delray Beach very quickly; and that’s when God opened up an opportunity for us to have our Saturday night meeting at Veterans’ Park Community Center in Delray Beach. It is at that time, we came up with the name Delray Beach Community Church. Having been heavily influenced by the Calvary Chapel movement’s commitment to teaching God’s word, following the Holy Spirit’s leading, and reaching locally and globally with the gospel of Jesus Christ, we contacted Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale regarding the possibility of affiliating with the Calvary Chapel movement.
